01

Client overview

The New Zealand Muslim Association annual Eid publication brings together organisational updates, community stories, guidance, photography and advertiser content for a broad readership.

02

Business challenge

Community publications contain many contributors, content formats and production dependencies. The design system needed to create order without flattening the diversity of material or making yearly production unnecessarily fragile.

03

Research

Successive editions provided evidence about recurring article types, image quality, advertising formats, editorial length and the practical review process required to move a large publication into print.

04

Strategy

The publication was organised around a repeatable editorial framework. Covers create a distinct annual moment, while internal grids, typography and section rhythms maintain continuity and make varied content easier to navigate.

05

Creative direction

The visual language balances institutional credibility with warmth and celebration. Hierarchy is deliberately strong so readers can scan, pause and enter longer material without being overwhelmed by page density.

06

Execution

The archive includes cover development, editorial layouts, advertising integration, image preparation, prepress and print-ready production across multiple annual editions.

07

Photography

Editorial photography is selected and cropped to support the subject of each article while preserving a consistent publication rhythm across varied source quality.

Outcomes

Visible outputs and practical changes.

Lessons learned

What the work reinforced.

  1. 01Editorial systems must accommodate imperfect and late-arriving source material.
  2. 02Advertising works best when its formats are governed before page assembly begins.
  3. 03A repeatable grid reduces production risk without making every edition look the same.

Evidence note

Claims remain accountable.

The archive demonstrates delivered publication work. Readership, engagement and advertiser outcomes are not claimed without verified data.
